The Physical or Etheric Plane -

Made up of channels through which vital energy flows and sensations are experienced. This subtle body includes the pranic sheath and the etheric double, and is related to the sense of hearing. It corresponds to the sexual organs, adrenal glands, and root and navel chakras. This is the body of prana and the source of our physical fire.

The Astral or Emotional Plane -

The energy surrounding the physical body is subject to the five senses. Thought, doubt, exhilaration, depression, and delusion are experienced in this body. Related to the sense of touch. Corresponds to the pancreas - the external form of the solar plexus chakra. This is the body of desires, emotions, and sensations.

The Mental Plane or Intellectual Sheath -

Controls and guides the mind, the ego, and the sense of self. Related to the sense of sight. Corresponds to the thymus gland. This is the body of the higher and lower mental plane which bridges our soul and personality.

The Atmic Plane or Buddhic Consciousness -

The causal or seed body. Just as the seed contains within it an exact blueprint of the plant it will produce, the causal body stores the subtle impressions of the divine in the form of karma. These impressions control the formation and growth of the other two bodies and determine every aspect of the next birth. The causal body is the home of intuition and divine consciousness, the source of love. It corresponds to the throat chakra and externalizes as the thyroid gland.

The Monadic Plane -

Manifests as the energy of transcendence. Related to the third eye center, and externalized as the pituitary gland, this plane is the source of joy.

The Divine Plane -

Corresponds to the knowledge of being; the formless plane of divine consciousness, the source of divine will, and ultimate freedom. The plane is related to the development of the crown chakra and externalizes as the pineal gland.
